ABOUT US

Sole Bay United Juniors FC was established in 1990 on the site of the Old School Playing Fields in Reydon.  Originally known as “Sole Bay Hunters”, the club is run on a voluntary basis to give young people in Reydon, Southwold and surrounding villages an opportunity to play football.

Across three decades, thousands of local children have grown up playing development and competitive football, with many of them progressing to play for local schools, senior football teams including Southwold Town FC, Sole Bay United Veterans and even professionally (e.g. Chris Martin).

Sole Bay Juniors is run on a not-for-profit basis by volunteers who provide coaching, training and competitive football in a welcoming environment. The club is affiliated with Suffolk County FA and runs age group teams to compete in the Norfolk and Suffolk Youth League and cup competitions.

All our coaches are qualified to FA Coaching Level 1. Each year we comply with FA regulations to achieve “FA Chartered Standard Status” that ensures all coaching personnel are qualified to maintained safeguarding, health and safety, emergency first aid and coaching standards.

While we cannot always compete with clubs from local towns with bigger catchment areas and first-class facilities, our club is known for being friendly, welcoming and well run – in 2017, we won the Suffolk FA Chartered Standard Club of the Year.

WHO WE ARE

Purpose

Our club gives young people in the communities of Reydon, Southwold and the surrounding villages the opportunity to play and to enjoy football. By volunteering to provide coaching, training and competitive football in a welcoming environment, we provide safe sports facilities and expertise to help young people develop as players and as people.

We try to live up to our values in everything we do:

  • Togetherness – we support our players, teams, supporters, community and each other.

  • Enjoyment – we have fun, stay positive and encourage enjoyment in all aspects of football.

  • Sportsmanship – we respect the rules, referee, opposition and the club. We give our best but winning is not everything.

Vision

We will be a well-run, friendly and respected junior football club that works to help young people discover and develop their footballing potential. We give young girls and boys a chance to learn new skills, make new friends and develop as people, so that our club makes a positive contribution at the heart of our community.
